Welcome to the 1993 production of Pirates of Penzance | |||||||
Synopsis
The curtain rises on a rocky cove on the Cornish coast, where the famous Pirates of Penzance are discovered, with their King and his
Lieutenant Samuel. They have gathered to say farewell to their apprentice Frederic who will be out of his indentures at midday.
In Act 2 we see Frederic set out on his path of exterminating the pirates, assisted by a gallant band of policemen, when to his dismay, the Pirate King and Ruth appear
with the distressing news that as he was born in Leap Year on the 29th February, and was apprenticed until his twenty-first birthday, this will not be until he is 84.
